Cyber Monday Switzerland 2026: capturing the end of Black Week

Cyber Monday 2026 falls on 30 November. Often neglected after an exhausting Black Friday, it is nonetheless the second-biggest e-commerce revenue day of the year in Switzerland, and five strategies show how to make the most of it.

Why Cyber Monday matters as much as Black Friday in Switzerland

Cyber Monday was born in the USA in 2005 as the digital version of Black Friday: people go back to the office, have access to work Wi-Fi and finish their shopping online. In Switzerland, the pattern has held: in 2025 and 2026, Cyber Monday accounts for 70 to 85% of Black Friday volume in e-commerce.

Cyber Monday 2026 falls on Monday 30 November. It is the second-biggest e-commerce revenue day of the year, after Black Friday (27 November), and often the moment when merchants ease off, tired after the week. You still need to know how to make the most of Cyber Monday without wearing yourself out.

How behaviour differs on Black Friday and Cyber Monday

For online shops selling tech, B2B, software or premium products, Cyber Monday is therefore often more profitable than Black Friday. For fashion and beauty, it is the reverse.

Strategy 1: Communicate continuity

Cyber Monday extends Black Week: it is the continuation of the same campaign. Your customers see a merchant running a sustained campaign, where an isolated day would look opportunistic.

Typical Monday morning email:

“The sale continues until midnight! Cyber Monday, last chance to enjoy [-X%]. [Direct link].”

Keep it short and clear, with a sense of urgency: the customer is in buying mode, so there is no need to tell your brand’s story.

Social media: 2 or 3 posts during the day. In the morning (launch), at midday (reminder), in the evening (last call).

Strategy 2: Active retargeting

Cyber Monday captures many people who visited your site on Black Friday but did not buy. Run active retargeting ads on:

  • Black Friday visitors who did not convert
  • Abandoned baskets from the weekend
  • Your complete email list

Typical retargeting budget for an SME: CHF 200 to 1,000 for Cyber Monday itself. Typical ROI: 4 to 10x.

Strategy 3: Complementary offers

Cyber Monday is also a chance to make different offers from Black Friday. The logic:

  • Black Friday: promotion on the catalogue (-20 to -40%)
  • Cyber Monday: promotion on services, subscriptions, courses (-30 to -50%), or a bundle (“buy A + B for the price of A”)

Differentiating the offers between the two days:

  • Increases the average customer basket (purchases on both days)
  • Gives customers a reason to come back on Monday
  • Avoids cannibalisation between the two promotions

Strategy 4: Remaining stock

Your best-selling products may be out of stock after Black Friday. Cyber Monday lets you:

  • Clear remaining stock: products you no longer have in large quantities but want to sell before Christmas
  • Push alternative items: if the bestseller is sold out, feature your second-best seller

Transparent communication: “Only [X] units of [Y] left”. Genuine scarcity converts better than false promises.

Strategy 5: Express delivery

Cyber Monday falls on 30 November. Shoppers are already thinking about Christmas presents. The promise of fast delivery is a strong conversion argument.

If your logistics provider (Swiss Post, DHL) can deliver within 2 days during the first week of December, say so:

  • Site banner: “Delivery guaranteed before Christmas for orders placed before 18 December”
  • Email: “Cyber Monday + express delivery included”

Technical preparation

Cyber Monday concentrates traffic, but less than Black Friday (10 to 30% of the traffic vs 100% on Black Friday). If your site held up on Black Friday, it will hold up on Cyber Monday.

Checks on the day:

  • Site up (mobile Lighthouse > 90, active monitoring)
  • Stock up to date (synchronised with the ERP)
  • Transactional emails tested (order confirmation, shipping)
  • Customer service ready (FAQ, response templates)

If a bug is detected during the day: roll the code back to the last stable version rather than patching in a hurry. It avoids making things worse.

Cyber Monday: after the sale

On Tuesday 1 December, a full review:

  • Cyber Monday revenue vs Black Friday
  • Winning traffic sources (organic, email, paid, retargeting)
  • Top-selling products
  • Conversion rate by device and by email campaign
  • Lessons for 2027

Nothing prepares you better for next season than a structured review.

Common mistakes

Mistake 1 · The same messaging as Black Friday. If your Cyber Monday emails only say “the sale continues”, open rates collapse. Vary the message.

Mistake 2 · No product differentiation. Selling exactly the same products at the same prices on both days cannibalises sales.

Mistake 3 · No retargeting. You leave 30 to 50% of possible conversions on the table.

Mistake 4 · An exhausted customer service team. A Tuesday morning with 200 emails waiting turns into a disaster. Plan reinforced support until Wednesday midday.

Mistake 5 · No Christmas delivery promise. Many Cyber Monday shoppers hesitate without a guarantee that their order will arrive before Christmas.

The full Black Week calendar

For reference, the recommended calendar for the end of November 2026:

  • Sunday 29 November: “last day of Black Week”
  • Monday 30 November (Cyber Monday): final promotion
  • Tuesday 1 December: review + transition to the Christmas campaign
