Designed for two countries

Payment, data, stores and languages are decided at the mockup stage, for your users in Switzerland and in neighbouring France alike.

You see all of it before you decide

The complete mockup, screen by screen, comes with the quote. You go through it, you correct it, then you decide. It is free.

A price fixed before we start

The quote prices what you approved on the mockup. Anything outside it is discussed before any work starts.

In French and in English

A second language is planned from the very first screen, instead of being added afterwards.

A Geneva app often serves two countries

  • 118,067 foreign cross-border workers were employed in the canton of Geneva in the second quarter of 2026, according to the provisional figure from the Federal Statistical Office published by OCSTAT on 6 August 2026. At the end of 2025, 116,182 of the 116,796 cross-border workers counted lived in France (OCSTAT).
  • Greater Geneva brings together 209 municipalities, 117 of them in France (Grand Genève, June 2023), and more than a million inhabitants (Grand Genève).
  • Geneva is home to 42 international organisations, 497 NGOs and 186 represented states, according to the canton of Geneva (18 August 2026).
  • 31.2% of working residents of the canton speak English at work, and English is the main language of 12.2% of residents (OCSTAT, structural survey, 2020 to 2024 average, excluding international civil servants and diplomats).

An app designed for Switzerland alone therefore leaves out part of its users: your employees who go home to Haute-Savoie or the Ain in the evening, your customers from neighbouring France, and those who work in English.

What the border changes for your app

Payment. TWINT accounts for 55.6% of mobile payment transactions in Switzerland, according to the Swiss Payment Monitor 2026 by ZHAW and the University of St Gallen. But it can’t be linked to a foreign bank account, its prepaid version doesn’t accept French phone numbers, and it only pays in francs, at merchants in Switzerland (TWINT). A customer from neighbouring France without an account at a Swiss bank therefore pays by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay: the app offers them alongside TWINT.

Data. The revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP), in force since 1 September 2023, applies as soon as the processing has effects in Switzerland (Fedlex, art. 3). The European GDPR comes on top when the app offers goods or services to people who are in the Union, or monitors their behaviour, even if the business is based in Geneva (GDPR, art. 3(2)). The privacy policy, consents and user rights are then designed for both texts. The European Union recognises Swiss data protection as adequate, and confirmed it on 15 January 2024 (European Commission): hosting in Switzerland remains possible for your European users.

Stores. You choose the countries where the app is published. Apple offers 175 of them and works out the price in each currency, which you can adjust country by country (Apple). Google Play goes by the country where the user’s account is registered, wherever the user happens to be (Google): a cross-border commuter whose account is French only finds your app if it is published in France.

Displayed prices. In Switzerland, prices are shown in francs, as the Geneva Council of State points out, citing the federal ordinance on price indication (report M 2406, 30 June 2021). An app that also sells in neighbouring France can show both currencies, depending on the user’s country.

Languages. French, and often English. Planned from the mockup, the second language only needs its texts and their testing; added afterwards, it means reworking every screen.

What an app costs in Geneva

The Geneva studios that publish their prices put a business app between CHF 30,000 and 100,000: CHF 45,000 to 90,000 according to Studio Dahu, CHF 30,000 to 60,000 according to Webii, CHF 30,000 to 100,000 for a hybrid app according to Les Digivores (pages checked on 9 October 2026). The detail, studio by studio, with store fees and upkeep: how much a mobile app costs in Switzerland in 2026.

At Voren, the price is fixed in the quote, before we start, based on the mockup you approved.

We’re on the border too

Voren works in Saint-Gingolph, a village split between Valais and Haute-Savoie, on the shore of Lake Geneva. We come to Geneva for the meetings that call for it, especially to go through the mockup together, and run the rest of the project by video call, in French or in English.

For an app aimed at the whole of Switzerland: mobile app development in Switzerland.

What it costs

The scope decides the price. Not the other way round.

Every project is quoted after a conversation. The price is fixed before we start and held at the invoice: anything outside the scope is discussed before being started.

No surprise at the end of the project, no extra discovered at delivery.

Our method

Eight steps, from request to follow-up.

The schedule is written in the quote, step by step. You owe nothing before you sign.

  1. Quote request

    Day 1

You describe your project in a few lines, through the form or by phone. We reply within one working day.

  2. Mockup and quote

    Within a few days

The priced quote, and the complete mockup if you want it: every screen and the flow between them. We can talk it over by video call or in person, or settle everything in writing.

Free mockup You decide after seeing it.

  3. Signature

    When you are ready

You sign the quote: it sets the scope and the price.

Fixed price The same on the invoice.

  4. Planning

    Week 1

Together we set the features of the first version and the schedule, and we open the accounts needed.

  5. Development

On the schedule in the quote

The app is built in stages, with versions to try as the project moves forward.

  6. Testing

    1 to 2 weeks

You try the app on your own devices, and we fix whatever you point out.

  7. Launch

    Launch day

Publication on the App Store and Google Play, or release of the web app.

  8. Follow-up

    After launch

Updates and fixes, under the care contract set out in the quote.

Frequently asked

Your questions, answered.

Only if they have an account with a Swiss bank. TWINT can't be linked to a foreign bank account, its prepaid version doesn't accept French phone numbers, and it only pays in francs, at merchants in Switzerland. An app that also serves neighbouring France therefore offers card payment, Apple Pay or Google Pay alongside TWINT.

It can. Article 3(2) of the GDPR covers a business established outside the Union when it offers goods or services to people who are in the Union, or monitors their behaviour. Swiss law (the nFADP) applies as soon as the processing has effects in Switzerland. A Geneva app that also addresses neighbouring France is therefore designed for both texts.

If your users have their accounts there, yes. Google Play goes by the country where the user's account is registered, wherever the user happens to be: a cross-border commuter whose account is French only sees the app if it is published in France. Apple and Google both let you choose the countries of publication, one by one.

The Geneva studios that publish their prices give wide ranges, detailed further up this page and in our article on the cost of an app in Switzerland. At Voren, the price is fixed in the quote, before we start, based on the mockup you approved.

Yes, and it's common in Geneva: nearly a third of the working people who live there speak English at work, according to the Federal Statistical Office. Planned from the mockup, the second language only needs its texts and their testing.

Where you decide, in Switzerland or in the European Union. The European Union recognises Swiss data protection as adequate, which it confirmed on 15 January 2024: your European users' data can be hosted in Switzerland.

Yes, for the meetings that call for it, especially to go through the mockup together. The rest of the project runs by video call, in French or in English.
